We make hiring more reliable (and more fun) by laying the groundwork for a more interactive process: by introducing elements like competition, time-stress, interpersonal challenges, changing constraints and public speaking. It's SHOW, not TELL.
Workshop-based hiring helps consolidate the entire interview process and gives your organization the opportunity to prove that you're an exciting and fun place to work, right down to the very first interaction. In the end, we make your hiring experience entirely more reliable (and more fun!)
The Groundwork model can also be applied as a valuable complement to the traditional job fair.
What types of industries does Groundwork serve?
We focus on showcasing job seekers' specific interpersonal abilities, rather than on specific industries. If you require someone who can communicate effectively, work within (or lead) a team, adapt to changing information or develop new ideas, we can help you out--regardless of the specific industry. If desired, all of our activities can be modified to incorporate concepts related to the specific open positions.
Does the Groundwork process work for extroverts AND introverts?
We conduct workshops in large groups, small groups and as individuals in order to showcase different personal dynamics. We can also incorporate writing samples and case studies to gauge critical thinking skills and the ability to put your head down and simply get work done.
Where do the individual exercises come from?
Groundwork creates a fair number of exercises based on our own experiences with hackathons, scrimmages and other community events. But we also curate exercises from a wide variety of sources. In addition, Groundwork has partnerships and licensing agreements with several companies specializing in social dynamics.
Does Groundwork advise which individuals I should hire?
Our policy is that nobody knows your company's culture quite like you do. For that reason, we don't recommend individual hires. What we aim to do is to create an atmosphere that makes it easy for you to see who's the perfect fit for your needs.
Is there a limit on the number of participants in a workshop?
Groundwork events are able to accommodate 10 people or 100. For the first round, "thin the talent pool" workshop, we recommend working with 30 or 40 participants. For the later, "final round interview" workshop, we recommend 10 to 15 participants.
What is the cost structure of Groundwork events?
We offer flat-rate fees for half-day and full-day workshops, as well as for the larger job fair-style events. We can also work within a contingency model if the eventual hire is sourced from the Groundwork Talent Pool. Please contact us for specifics.
